I shall update some of the things that happened recently in details.
-Marche-
Remember? I went to work at Marche Vivo not very long ago? However, i ended it very soon after i began. It was my first time working in a restaurant alone with no companions. Had a hard time during their training coz of the "long long ago" intro but when i really began working there, i realised its actually a really nice place. The interviewer, Dery, is actually a friendly guy, its just that sometimes he tends to be a little bit blund in then way he speaks. My restaurant team leaders, Siti, Norman, Amelia and Joseph are all fun pple. Norman and Amelia are from the Philippines, Joseph is from Switzerland and Siti is made in Spore. They all have their accent, their way of doing things but always, friendly. Whenever i needed help doing something, i called them up, they would always solve the problems i was having.
Hostessing is no easy job. Besides standing there being a vase, you need to be alert enough(as in the case of marche), when guest walked out to the toilet, u need to be caution enough to stop them and get their guest card. Also, when pple walked in all of a sudden, you need to be alert that they dun just walk in without a card. Marche Vivo being the only one left in Spore always has a long long queue from 6pm onwards and i can never understand why pple are so willing to wait and wait even when they saw the long queue. Then, you need to pick up calls amidst all the chaos, "Hi, good evening, thank you for calling Marche Vivo City, this is Apple speaking, how can i help you?" When guest come in from the door, you need to shout, "HI GRUEDZI, WELCOME TO MARCHE!" to draw their attention and to let the restaurant knows that somebody is coming in.
Being a seater is another tough job. I hate doing it because whenever there is a long queue, we need to make sure that th queue goes away by finding seats for the pple in the queue. Pple come in different size of groups, there can be 2, 3, 5, 12, 15 and these aren't pple who can comprehend with the phrase, "Sorry, we dun have other seats at the moment, will this seat do?" Some may say no, some reluctantly say ok, some agree. It is always hard to make them satisfied. Sometimes, guest walk away to get their food, they take a long time to come back, seaters may assume that they have left, then brought in another group of pple, but when the original pple came back, they will start to kick a fuss, "why you give my seats away HUH?!"
Wad i hate most bout working in Marche, the late hours. I think Marche is the only restaurant that operates till 12am just because it is not located within Vivo itself, but a distance away, nearer to Harbourfront Centre, and they would be ways to go down if Vivo is locked up. Staff gets released at 12am.
After a week, i say i dun wanna go on. However, i stayed on another week to help them out coz they haven't got a group of stable hostesses. 2 weeks later, with an ice bucket full of ice, i bid my farewell to Marche Vivo City. It was good money earned because i couldn't get to spend my money since its transferred monthly to my account. HeH! I was glad.
-Chalet-
I pondered for a long while before i decided to be the organiser of our Sec school chalet again because the last time, it was disastrous. The chalet was too small, too many pple came, too little food and some didn't pay. We made quite a bit of loss there. This time round, pple aren't keen to go for the chalet. Intended to call it off but then i rmbed bout Ah Loh's wine, so we gotta go on with it. It wasn't easy to make everybody fit into the date that i want and it was definitely harder to collect money before booking. Somehow, a few better friends paid up and i was able to booked the chalet 1st but of coz, i used a bit more cash than the rest.
Finally, the chalet is settled and i look forward to seeing my ex-classmates this April 1st.
-Wala-
My first visit to a pub was such a pleasant experience besides the initial tummy ache. Planned on going to MOS but the pple all fly away all of a sudden, but Terry lao da was good enough to go with us to Wala. A small group of us, which includes, Dear, Andy Chua and BT kor went for our drinks and some relaxing moments.
The atmosphere was great, the drinks were great and the music was awesome. I love the live band playing, i love it so so much. I finally had my taste of Singapore Sling, it wasn't strong but it was sweeter than i thought. Heineken was nice but too much beer makes someon vomit.
The night ended early but it was definitely fun and enjoyable. Looking forward to another one.
-Amara-
Went to Amara for the 1st time to work(finally). I never liked the idea of going there to work because when i was the coordinator of OHS, i rmbed then staff that we banned, they took, which was, low. Many times i was asked to go try out, but i always refused to. From Vincent, to Skinny, to Lawrence to Cindy... I never went over.
I did a week ago, it was, somewhat expected, and somehow, the pple pissed me off. Went to work, changed up, went upstairs to work. 1st, i dun have a name, not even on the booking book, i was called, "Xueting's friend". 2nd, i was insulted by this malay guy, he called me "Ah bui" and he found it so funny that he laughed in front of me. For starters, if i know you are joking, i won't take it too hard, but hello sir, i bearly spoke to u at all yet u are laughing at something that insults pple, do u like me calling you, "PIG?" Not funny at all.
The girl whose father is the Captain or supervisor is so arrogant. While one girl was putting ice in the glasses, and we were waiting to put the glasses on the table, the other girl looked at us and think we are stupid, she used the glass to scoop the ice. HELLO! Have some heart can? Pple are gonna drink that thing lah, its not like the glass is made of plastic and it doesn't break, it breaks lah, especially when it contracts, she scooped like nobody's business. Well, its their guest.
The ballroom is small, and i still dunnoe which partition open up to which. So many doors, i cannot figure which room i was in after i came back from the break.
Many things in at the banquet area resembles OHS, like the coffee break corner, and all. Some, even better than OHS, and i figured because OHS is too big to be "governed" properly, Amara is easy to do wad can be done at OHS. I supposed it is because of Vincent that there are some resemblance between the 2.
It was so slack over at Amara, i didn't like it that way. Chris once said, i like challenging things but i always challenge myself too far and make myself tired. I find that true. Amara offerd no challenge to me. No guest made me go "Huh?!" Their superiors dun make me afraid of them. I was standing there holding a tray, afraid i will get scolded for doing nothing. 10 staff for that coffeebreak, i still cannot believe.
-OHS-
Incident that almost the whole banquet department now knows, is pretty much history. It came to an end for me, when i decided to go help them out for their 1000pax dinner that day. It was, yes, challenging. I wasn't doing VIP table, i wasn't serving "special" or "important" guests, they were normal guest and i was back to normal table. It was so fun to be under a side station with a captain that stress u so much. But i was good enough no to get scolded.
The man i hoped get fired talked to me in a nice way and i am sure he mended his way after some lecturing from his AM. Well, i guess i was a bit hot-headed that day to have walked away. Well, partially i was too tired and too overwhelmed by the race issue. Anyway, i still didn't talk to him coz i still feel he was wrong.
The night ended with a huge feast of remaining food. Ha!
I still hate the person i always hate. Still so arrogant and full of herself. Gosh, you need to watch ur words or really, pple will just badmouth you all the way until you finally leave the hotel for good, not forgetting ur bf.
I began to miss Lau. He used to tell us all his crap stories which eventually leads to a meaningful morale. Like, "You can never never never use a glass to scoop the ice because u never know whether it will chipped into the ice or not. Guest drink, they choke, they die, we die." HahA! Miss his stern look at us and his always willing spirit to teach, whoever you are. Hai...
-Results-
Results came out for this sem and i wasn't happy about it. I was quite mad at an old friend when she kind of showed off her results. I need to buck up and get something better than this. I used to be a top student. I hope that won't become history.
-Myself-
The scandalous issue between him and i ended on 26 Feb when he touched my heart with his words. I dunnoe whether is it right to go into it again but i do hope it won't be as painful as it had already been. I hope it works out, better than before.
-Night-
-Ciao-
